Have been playing around with the camera using a tripod and not to see if there's any difference with my focus. Still gathering my data. But, I think I really like this one shot handheld before I pulled the tripod out. It's actually one of the clearer ones. I think? Forgot to turn off the SR in the beginning and after a while tried some with 2sec timer.

Adjusted levels and USM on this one. That's about it.

Any criticism/comments welcome. I'll post some others later once I fix them. Mostly tulips. Some freesias and snapdragons.

Patty

Here's another one. This one would be with the tripod and 2 sec timer.

These are excellent Patty! What source of lighting was in use? Also, what aperture were you using (I was unable to read your EXIF info).

Thanks, Jay. The light is all natural. Just sunlight coming through the window onto the flowers sitting on the hearth of the fireplace. It was about 4 p.m. when I took these. Kept having to wait for the sun to shine through in the right place. :-)

Sorry about that with the EXIF data. I took these in RAW and after converted for PSE5, saved that "for web" which I forgot wipes the data. I only started saving again that way yesterday.

1st photo - 55mm, f4.5, 1/180 sec, A/P, spot metering, ISO400, no flash, SR, not on macro, handheld.

2nd photo - 80 mm, f5.6, 1/250 sec, A/P, spot metering, ISO400, no flash, SR, possibly set to macro on the lens, handheld.

I don't know how to tell if I had the lens set to macro or not. This was a very unscientific experiment since I didn't write anything down I was doing. I, of course, figured I'd remember. Yeah, right! It would have to be at 80mm as that's the only choice for macro on this lens.

And another view.

Thanks, brokenbokeh. Still sorting through the others.

Thanks, Rodney. I'm still trying to determine if I see any difference between the "macro" setting shots and the regular and the handheld and the tripod mounted.
