Friends -

I know the focus is off and this is not even close to a real pro picture but with that said. Lets assume the assignment was to capture the spirit of America somehow.

The idea is to mix the fact that we are built on labor and metal and smoke but also a spirit of entrepreneurship and free expression (not interested in a debate around if we come close as a nation or not).

Which photo comes closes to capturing the assignment? The one focused on the expression of the crew, or the one with more of the boat?

First is best. The spirit part must be emphasized and the first captures the freedom of expression better! Just MYOP!

Sure the 1st works best.. you did the right choice.. since the main subject (or at least the one u want to be the main) lays horizonataly itself..

I like the first one better, too. The second one shows a ship that's had a tough life - you need the people to get your theme across. There's too much uninteresting metal, in my opinion, in the second one.

My thought is that when you are talking about something like "spirit" you have got to have people. I think having the guys even more prominent would have worked better.

I like the first image but how about an even tighter crop (still 2:3 ratio) like this one.

Even in the browser's cache! But why. Anyone that posts here shares their views & images for the better good.

Just don't feel right about purposefully keeping someone elses pictures without permission.
