Shot with the Tamron 70-300mm lens, ISO 800, 1/500s, f/5.6

She's perched on a rose of sharon shrub, and you can see that there are diseased portions of the branch. Sadly, this is from the increasingly warm and rainy winters we're experiencing here in the northeast US.

Ah, but I did not engage in any political rhetoric at all

What's the cause of global warming? I don't know, but it is here, and "global warming" doesn't necessarily mean a higher average temperature, but can also mean what we would consider to be unseasonably warm temperatures over a given period of time. This may be a completely natural cycle - that is, not human-induced - or not, but either way there have been detrimental effects (IMO) to my part of the world.

The New Statesman article is interesting and informative - thanks for the link - but is more about greenhouse gases and the "average" temperature of the planet, and not localized anomalies.
