Took my K20 to a high school theatre production of The Wiz last night. Shooting mainly with the DA*50-135 in Av mode, I was pleased with the low-light performance. Available light used in all shots, although the student light-techs kept me guessing about the proper ISO because of variations in the temperature of the spots. Range of ISO's was from 1250 to 2500.

I was particularly pleased to be able to use the 50-135 because I have shot other productions on the same stage and been limited to the FA 50 because of its ability to go down to f1.4. The extra ISO ranged gave me enough flexibility to get some zoom to parts of the stage for which I had been previously limited to wide shots, then cropping.

One of the evil witches....

Very impressive! How far were you from the stage?

Thanks, Jay. The front of the stage was probably only about 6-8 feet.

Well done! These are lovely - I gather you haven't had any trouble with the new camera? The DA*50-135 is brilliant on the K20.

Good shots Paul. Clear and really captures the enthusiasm of high school kids when they get in their element!

I tried this from the back of a 400 seat theatre (Sigma 24-135mm at 135mm). I still had to crop. That is why it is no where near the quality of yours.
