Bank Holiday weekend, I went to Woburn Abbey for another craft Show.

Same people who have done the last few I have been to.

This time for the falconry, I decided to try a few diferent settings for the camera. I used TAv mode a lot of the time, setting 1/500 and f8, letting the camera do the rest. I also set the focus points to auto and the focus to continuous, with motor drive.

I found that once the camera locked onto a bird, then I could usually get a reasonable shot. In fact it was probably my best BIF yet, considering that some of the birds swoop at up 150mph.

C&C welcome as always.

You did quite well with the focus and DOF - the pictures are really nice. I wish we had something like this around here, it looks like fun trying to capture the birds in action.

The fun this time was more from the husband and wife who ran the show.

They were so knowledgeable and dedicated to the birds, and kept a constant speech abouth each bird, what type it was, why they have to cross breed them etc, but they didn't lecture in any way.

As usal, while I was firing away they wife stayed in the shade of the refreshment tent, admiring her new bribes...more custom jewellry!

Keeps us both happy for the event.

Wow, great set of shots Dal. I loved the in-flight sequences, particularly the barn owl. I consider it a privilige anytime I get to see the beautiful birds up close, although the only falconry presentation I've attended was indoors with film and just getting to look at the birds, rather than actually getting to see them fly.

Sounds like you got your money's worth out of your bribes.
