cool photos

i so want a BIgma too, and you are doing nothing to help stop this lol
i looked at one for $1500+ au
i am not ready to pay that much yet
although these photos are really compelling

my guess is the cockatoo is a Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo Calyptorhynchus latirostris
almost identical to Baudins except for the length of the beak
mostly found on the swan coastal plain
i can never remember which has the pink surround to the eye, male or female
Ok i found out, males are pink females are dark

Kjell your knowledge of WA birds is better than most that live here

the scrub bird islikely a'little wattle bird', rather than a wattle bird
they can be common around Perth

Hi Gumnut. Think it is a Red Wattlebird rather than the Little Wattlebird, based on description and drawing in the Slater field guide.

cheers

PS Here is another photo taken today in fading light, 1/180, hand held, 500mm, ISO 200. I should have used a monopod.

Gumnut, revisiting the cockatoo photos, I think you are right and itis Carnaby's cockatoo, but reference material I have seen makes it difficult call for me. I didn't realize they are endangered. Have seen lots over the years and thought they are common, but they live a long life, so can be the same birds moving about and revisiting over the decades!

cheers

PSOne more photo. Cropped. 1/350, hand held, ISO 800, 420mm
