My brother and his wife were visiting for a couple of days from NY. We did a bit of local traveling. First we went to Hoch Blauen the southern most notable peak in the Black Forest. Then we went down to Basel, about a 30 minute drive. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

This next shot was taken at a market, not in the wild mountains!

Would you want to pilot this barge?

This ferry operates solely on the power of the Rhine. By the placement of the cable and the adjustment of the special rudder it moves accross the Rhine without motor or sail!

This next shot is from accross the river and has been cropped quite a bit, but I like the contast in the colors of the unbrellas and the stone/cement walls.

What would a trip to Switzerland be withoutwindow shopping (key word "window") foran outrageously priced watch. Swiss Franc is about equal to a US dollar.

And finally I couldn't resist this shot of the street musician.

Hope you enjoyed the trip! Glenn

Another great photo/travelog from you Glenn! While not related to travel the ones of the flowers earn a gold star for composition!

Thanks Rodney, Kjell and Jay. As Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes says, "There's treasure everywhere!" Kjell, I am really wanting to get up to your part of the world. Waiting for some Easyjet flights!

Wonderful shots - a beautiful location and the shots show it off well. Makes me want to go back to that area. I really wasn't into photography when I was there, and didn't take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that area offers.

You know, it's not far, not far at all. Alot of Germans own summer houses around here, and they drive up from Hamburg or Hannover for the weekend. And when comparing to Germany, even the southern parts of Sweden are pure wilderness. Welcome!

Wonderful series, Glenn! Just showed them to my wife & we can't help but wonder if you may have seen her friend & her husband while you were Basel. Of course, now after seeing your sights, my wife is definitely interested in trying to get us over there, which is fine with me as I'll hopefully get to see my ancestral Rhineland then!

Hope your brother & s-i-l had an enjoyable & safe trip!
Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful, Glenn. My husband's been telling me for 25 years he was going to take me there. He was stationed near my ancestor's towns just before I met him. Some day I'll get to take my own photos of the area. In the meantime, I'll enjoy yours!

Patty

p.s. Is thata James Bond watch for that price? Must be something special for that price!
