Wow, there are some wonderfully amazing photos here.

Here is my attempt, one side of my Dad's front yard, we call it The Jungle.

I'm back stuck using my laptop for several more days, perhaps a week. This is going to be hard to judge, for sure. Roy - I really like that new picture much better than the first one - very interesting. I'd love to have Rodney's father's yard, badahir's ruins are fascinating and I like PDL's shed door (those types of pictures always fascinate me when someone else takes them).

Hey all,

Some really nice shots posted so far!

I was just playing around with my new DA fisheye at a friend's condo. This is from his balcony.

I'm dizzy just looking at that picture! That's a neat use of the fisheye.

I've got to ask: What are the rules for the monthly challenge voting?

Who can vote? What is the deadline for voting?

I noticed that the voting was closed last month on the 5th..........

Anybody can vote - you don't have to post a picture. Voting starts after the month is over - let's say after noon, pacific daylight time on August 1. Voting is usually open for less than a week - so that lets people have time to work on whatever the next month's topic is. It's normally halted somewhere around the 5th or the 6th of the month.

Since the topic came up, and the person hosting the month (and that's me this month), I'll say now that voting will end at midnight, PDT on Aug 5th. Since I have no intention of being awake at that time, I'll post the winner (won't be a surprise) when I get on the computer on the 6th.

Here in Southern California, we suffer through a lot of wildfires in the summer.
One positive aspect of this, though, is the gorgeous sunsets we get when there's smoke in the atmosphere.
This was taken from our deck outside our home here in Wrightwood in the San Gabriel Mountains.
