The native Wisconsin Cactus is finally blooming about a month late because of the extremely cold spring. The cactus grows native here and looks like desert cactus during the summer, and lays down flat during the winter waithing for the warm weather to come back again.

That's interesting. Their spikes don't look as fearsome as the ones out here, but the blooms like the same. Very nice!

That's cause easterners aren't as tuff as westerners and it takes a whole lot more to intimidate westerners!

I have a different type of cactus here that has a night blooming flower. It blooms at night for a few days then turns black and drops off. Then a few weeks later it starts over again.:-?

The first shot is with my 17mm Pentax M42 Fisheye and the second is with my Penatx M 50mm Macro. It seemed to work for the two shots and made the cactus patch look larger than it is.

It has tiny spines that are hard to see that get unto your skin and are almost impossible to get out if you touch them.

Nice catch, Tom. The cactuses have unexpectedly beautiful flowers, deeming from the plant itself. Cactus in Wisconsin seems just as likely as penguins in Africa. They do exist also, even though everyone is surprised by it.
