On the road again with the in-laws. Here are some shots taken in the Netherlands. Weather was very cold for July as you can see in this first shot of a family heading for some sun and fun at the beach!

Dutch sand dunes being blasted by wind and rain

And what would the Netherlands be without some windmills. These from Kinderdjik.

And finally a trip to Haarlem...

...and the Corrie Ten Boom house, famous for the story of "The Hiding Place." Here the Ten Booms hid Jews from the Nazis. Father Ten Boom and his two daughters were caught by the Nazis and sent to work camps. Only Corrie survived. Two members of the Dutch resistance and 4 Jews were saved by hiding in the hiding place built behind a false wall in Corrie's bedroom.

An actual Jewish star worn by a "convicted" Jew in the Ten Boom house.

Hope you enjoyed the trip. Hope even more you get a chance to see some of these places!

Very nice series (as always). I especially like the street scene from Haarlem and the first image of the windmills.

Thanks for the comments, Bahadir, Ronny and Jay. Those windmills were built around 1740, so they certainly are well maintained!

Interesting series. Very well done! The weather looks scary...reminds me of what we have in store here on the "Wet Coast" of Canada...cheers...Don

A fine series that also shows thattravelling can be filled with serious visits and not only be a pasttime. Myself, with the family, I visited Robben Island , where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years of his 27 in detention. The prison is now a museum, and the guides are political ex-prisoners. A very interesting visit of course, but the photographic outcome was poor.
