Photoshop Elements removes exif when you save for web, I now save as and then use EasyCrop on my Mac.

Nice photos, you're certainly helping decide to retire my Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG for the Pentax DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Lens.

that's what i do. your original is not compromised as long as you do not save changes when you close the image. keeping the exif intact adds about 8-10k tho. i usually shoot for a saved file size of aroung 100k and 800dpi on the long side.

I don't mean to hijack this thread with its excellent closeups, but I have just switched to a Mac. I used PSE 2 and Adobe's original Photo Deluxe for quickie pp in Windows. I bought PSE 6 yesterday, and have been looking at Image Well as a MAC replacement for APD (which was the first version of what became PSE). Has anyone tried Image Well - it looks really neat?

Those are all great shots and make a good case for this lens as a near macro. Out of curiosity, what is the maximum magnification for th 55-300?

It is 1:3.5

It seems to be a very sharp lens and a great walk around size.
