This youngster was having a little snack, and was kind enough to sit still for a minute or 2, and dish up a couple of poses. All with the k20d and the 55-300. I just received the DA*300 2 days ago, and am going out this am to give it a go! Postings to follow........cheers...Don

You certainly do get some good results with that lens. I 'll be interested to see some direct comparisons with the DA*300.

Thanks Harriet. The 55-300 does a pretty good job, although I sure need to USM a lot. Be interesting to see the difference with the DA*300. I'll be heading out within an hour. Just getting light here now...cheers..Don

Great images Kman! How far away were you from the bird? Nice detail!

:-) Wait a second, aren't you that Don guy who showed back up here a month or two ago with a K100d and a strict budget? :-):-):-)

Seriously, nice shots there and I too am looking forward to seeing how the DA * 300mm performs for you and any comparisons you have with the 55-300mm.

I am with Tim, I could live with a budget that allowed me to buy over $2,000 worth of new camera gear!

Nice shots of the Cedar Waxwing.

Thanks Tim. Yeah, I'm one sick puppy as indicated by a previous thread - http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=80 - :?. What's a nut to do? Well my curtailed spending was due to an impending strike. Well the strike's off, so my wallet's open. :-) Although that could be bad too. Thanks for the support guys. At least my habit isn't boozing and drugs. Although those 2 might still be cheaper in the long run...cheers...Don

Glad to hear the strike is off - I know what you mean about the photography habit. I looked at tripods and camera bags yesterday. I love my Slingshot 200 but it's a bit small and the stitching around the zipper is starting to go because I habitually over-stuff it. Didn't come to any conclusions for either topic - the tripod or the bag.

Very nice, don't you love it when they pose for you.

I too would like to know what distance away were you from the bird ?
