I am not familiar with the program. If you are looking for a thumb viewer/library program I have been very happy with Picasa. It supports all the PEF files from any camera Pentax makes.

For Vista you need a Codec found here: http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto/downloads/codecs.aspx

I don't know if the Microsoft RAW viewer powertoy for XP would help with PEF files:

OK, looking around I found mentions of DP Magic. If the community edition is no more, perhaps downloading a trial version of the full software could give you the necessary codec and I would think the codec would continue working even after the trial on the software expires.

No, sorry, Picasa does not. However, I really like it as my library software and, if I need to go to the file in explorer, all I have to do is rightclick the thumb and choose "open in explorer" and I am there.

Thanks for starting this thread and the mention of Picasa. I had an older version installed and decided to upgrade to the newest version. Now my imaging processing is a quicker process. Open Picasa and view all the photos, then right click on the image and open in PSE5 and do my processing.

I had been opening Windows Explorer so I could get to the photos, when I ran into PEF files, I'd open it with the Pentax Browser to decide if I wanted/needed to process, then open in PSE5 and do processing. The skipping around and slow opening of the Pentax program and PSE at the same time has been eliminated.

I've never really liked the Organizer in PSE. If you moved things around they didn't move in WE. In Picasa I can rearrange photos if needed and they are moved in WE. Plus, it has the tags feature I did like in Organizer.
