I made a home made better beamer a good while ago http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=586739&forum_id=80&highl ight=home+made+better+beamer And promised I'd give it a dark night tryout to see the difference with and without it. So here goes. The distance is at 120+ feet and into pitch black darkness. Hard to point at the exact same spot hand holding the camera but the photos do show the difference with and without the beamer. The EXIF should be on the photos but I did open the aperture up all the way and slow the shutter speed way down and used ISO 1600 with manual mode. Focus was to infinity and worked pretty good that way.

With on board flash..... The photo is there...It's just so dark.

With my Vivitar 285 HV Zoom Thyristor flash. Flash set up to brightest flash possible and I used the Zoom setting.

Here are the three photos after using DCETools exposure compensation filter at 75% on all three photos.

On board flash again and yes there is a photo there.

no doubt that it works, your photos show it helps to get the light there.

Thanks Ishino. Not a very scientific exercise but it does show that the homey beamer does work.
