A couple of shots while at the Kings Park spring festival today. Took the Sigma macro (and K20D) to take flower photos, and came across this busy "28". Photos at F2.8.

All three are really nice! What is it about parrots? They are always so much fun to look at, so photogenic, and your pictures show them off.

Harriet, I've seen these parrots on occassion all my life, and I'm astounded at the colours you can see here. Usually 28s fly past quickly or are futher away. This one was busy and happy to ignore me!

cheers to all

You have far too many beautiful birds downunder, BB. Why is the Ringneck called "28"? Never heard that before.

And then you add on with a spectacular flower! It's cruel, you know.:-)

Kjell, in West Australia, it is called a 28 after the sound of one of its calls. Different names in other parts of Australia, but all of these birds are now called the Australian Ringneck. (I only learnt that on Saturday!).

cheers
