Nothing very strange about seeing an ostrich in Africa, but I must admit I was a bit surprised to see one (actually several) on the sea-shore in the Cape Peninsula nature reserve.

Of course anyone knows that South Africa is famous for it's Beach Cows, feeding mainly on crustacea.
These we saw at Port St John's Second Beach.

(Just after I took this an upsetfarmer came hollering and yelling to chase the escapees back home. :-))

And as we walked further along the waterfront, we were accompanied by two dogs. My younger son and one of the dogs got along really well.

Thanks for looking

Wonderful shots! I love the cows and the one of your son with the dog is precious.

Those look like some nice memories Kjell and you never know what you will find on a beach. I have a (pre-Pentax) shot of my wife walking down a beach in the British Virgin Islands with a cow following her.

Kjell, I have to admit it is a bit disconcerting to see the surf behind the Ostriches and cows on a beach? But your son and the dog look very natural. Excellent shot.

Very interesting. Definitely not something I'd expect to see on a beach. Very nice photos, too.
