I think this one is a juvenile black bird. Not too sure though

Nice pictures - I know what you mean about the lighting conditions with the red-wing and PF. Are you tempted by the DA300, or are you going to stick with the A? I think about the DA but then think about the extra weight and size, and that always puts a damper on the idea. Sure wish that one of the camera stores around here would stock one so I could at least hold one, then decide.

I am tempted . But switching to less PF longer lens is a very pricey exercise. A300mm has always had a big advantage in size. All I need to be careful is direct light which unfortunately seems to be rule for me lately. For longer lens I would rather go for either 500mm or 600mm if I manage them physically. Hope Pentax can come up shortly with longer lenses
