Those are great, no dragon flies left around here since it got cold this week.

Thank you for all the kind comments!
I was pleased that these turned out as well as they did. this little guy was only about an inch long and seemed to get acclimated to me fairly well. I took several dozen shots of him and kept getting closer and closer. he'd fly off and come back, fly off and come back. I stayed focused on one spot and kept getting closer until I was about 12 inches from him. finally I was laying on my belly with my elbows propping up the camera like a tripod. :G

Hi Thkn,
my set up is simple. an old Pentax-A 50mm f:2.0 lens with a Vivitar 2X macro teleconverter and my on board flash. settings used were; manual mode. ISO 200, shutter 180 @ f:5.6

I can hardly wait till I get a real Macro lens!

Hey there,
I used a similar setup myself (Viv 2x macro TC + A 50/1.7) but wasn't that lucky with insects - they kept flying away mostly

I've got a 90mm Viv 1:1 macro lens yesterday (only one "real" entry on my lens wishlist missing now, wohoo). The 1:1 mode is nice, BUT the lens extends quite a bit, so I can't use the onboard flash in 1:1 mode. Just a hint for you when you are looking for a macro lens... think about lighting.

Thread, where I asked for macro advice and will post some shots with the Viv macro: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=94(just in case you are interested).

Hm... there was a Sigma 50mm MF 1:1 macro lens with "A" setting available at a german Pentax forum some days ago, so if you are really up to it and like the 50mm - I'd be happy to look if it's still available and get you in contact with the seller.

Best regards,
Th.

Very nice blue darter shots John. #3 is my favorite, great depth of field and sharpness on that one.
