I got to coach our boys' volleyball team this year and we went down to Aviano, Italy to the US Air Force base high school to play in the year end tournament. Here are a couple of shots of two of the better teams in action. There were several guys who could really hit well. The shots were taken with the DL and the DA 50 2.0. ISO was at 800.

The team in red won the whole thing.

Good action shots considering the conditions (indoor and probably a fairly dark gym). I love watching volleyball--I've had three daughters that played.

Really like the second one. The first one is nice, I wonder if it might have been better if you had used 1600 and a faster shutter speed. I always thought that 1600 was quite useable with the DS/K100 sensor - a little noise reduction and most of mine were quite reasonable.

I too use ISO 1600 a lot now. Really helps the shutter speed. Very well done Glenn.

Thanks for the comments and the ideas, Rick, Harriet and Dawg. I will try 1600 next time I am in that sort of situation.

Nice shots, Glenn. Reminds me of my high school days and being on our volleyball team.
