Beautiful, if cool, fall day today....a perfect day to go to the zoo. Lighting conditions were harsh with very bright sun and deep shadows with very little in-between. Still, I was pleased with some of the shots I was able to get with the extra reach of the lens.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"These two lorikeets were fighting over a perch, and continued fighting after they spun off it. I liked the two spectators..

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"The giraffe was a little curious about the long lens pointing at him. I thought the fall leaves behind him were kind of interesting.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"This was actually a mistake as I overcompensated for the harsh sun, but I kind of liked the effect.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"And, a last couple of shots

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"All in all, a fun afternoon.

Very nice shots, Paul. I really like the gorilla deep in thought.

Wonderful pix Paul.
#4 turned out great! I wouldn't tell anyone it was a mistake, I'd tell them how difficult it was to get this one just the way you wanted it.:G
#1 looks just like my little brother and #5 looks strangely like my ex mother in law!

i really like the vrane photo, even if it was a mistake
you held detail in the bright parts which can be hard to do in bright sunshine
the lens looks like a great lens
nice and sharp
i still want one

Every time I have convinced myself that I don't want / need one, I see shots like these, which start me drooling again for the 50-500mm

It is a fine lens in the right hands.

Thanks for sharing Paul
