tjsnaps is right about the layer mask, although i use gimp it has a similar thing and you can have hard and soft selections depending on which tool you use plusy it is easy to add and subtract from the selection

ps check pic 3 between the front wheel struts(?) thingies
i think you should be able to see through the gap
did you save them as photoshop files ?
OK John,

you have a good eye!

after going back and looking at the original pic, I thought, no, it's the way it is. but, after blowing it up full size I realized that the shadow from a car parked in front of the Prowler was causing the image to blend in with each other. I had to guess at how it should look. but, it does look better.
