Now I'm not one who generally likes trendy stuff, but I kinda like it. It was announced by Pentax USA, and will be sold with matching white DAL 18-55 and DAL 50-200.

This might be a way around carrying a DSLR into a concert and such that don't allow "professional cameras". . . or might be the perfect medical/dental cam. . . or a great stealth camera for the ski slopes. . . or maybe an appropriate wedding cam. Maybe it can be marketed as the perfect hi-end hi-tech fashion accessory -- a different color for every outfit. . .:-)

There apparently will be a limited number made, and if they sell, maybe we might see pink, blue, and green ones . . . or how about camo. . .

I can see it being a hit with the youth market!

How about a K30 in camo? Fits with the "rugged outdoor" equipment image.

Hi jelpee,

I think you're right! I don't know if this is only going to be marketed in the US, but I also think that it also would do well in Japan.

The white body also would lend itself to custom painting more than the black -- apparently this is very popular with cell phones in Japan. . .

Hi penolta,

I might even go for that. I had a LOT of problems getting close to the Herons of all species last year -- maybe I'm just getting less coordinated in my old age. . .

If the form factor is anywhere close to the K10/K20, and they show me features that I want in a K20 upgrade, then I can actually see it. Of course, I'd then have to talk my mom into sewing some camo covers for the lenses and tripod. . . buy a full set of camo wear, and . . .

It's always the accessorizing that kills ya! :-)

I've been trying to make up my mind about it. I'll just have to see it in person to make a final decision.

I do think it will have a youth appeal. Its also a way to stand out from the crowd - you'd get noticed in any photo crowd with that camera. It's definitely a way to get your name out there. Most of the time I'm just another dSLR user and unless someone is close enough to read the logo on the front, they assume it's a C or an N (by the way, I held one of the new C 5D MII cameras today. It's sure a heavy camera, but the sample pictures my friend took with a 50mm 1:1.2 lens (yes, as in f1.2) were awesome).

My conclusion is that if it sells, I'm all for it (though I don't think I'll buy one myself).
