Made from 1/8" milk plastic sheet. They work fairly well.

Creative construction, Ed, and it looks like it would work very well. One question, however....on the first one, it appears that the diffuser slides into a slot inside a frame. How did you manage that?

Hi Dawg,

I've tried just about all the different flash modifiers, and the best one, IMO is the Demb Flipit with diffuser. I'ts incredibly simple and would be easy to DIY. . . not that I would suggest such a thing! The hinged bounce card is very important because it allows you to bounce light through the diffuser to get more distance or to get more soft direct fill. The diffuser is very pliable plastic, and closer to clear than opaque, attaching to the Velcro strap on the Flipit with patches of hook Velcro on the diffuser.

It's very adjustable and versatile for varying distances -- allows you to bounce and fill at the same time with one flash, -- gives very similar results as the Lightsphere, but without the bulk and weight. It's very lightweight, folds flat and will fit any flash head.

Take a look : http://www.dembflashproducts.com/diffuser/models/

I'm starting to look for materials to make one with a couple of possible improvements. One of my cats decided the diffuser on mine looked like something that would be good to chew. . .

Paul it comes that way. There is a diffuser that comes with the flash but it is not as opaque as the one I made. I had to mill about a 1/16th by 1/8th of an inch from each side so it would slide in. The other one flashes the entire length of the diffuser giving as very wide and tall soft flash.

Hey Bigdawg!

Love this thread.

Got my mind going . . . now that I got two flash guns to work with, but only one umbrella.

I'm just going to have to play around with some of your ideas! <grin>

Take care,
Glen
