Could not get any closer, so this is as good as it gets so far.

Well, Tom , it's about 5000 miles closer than I have ever gotten. Beautiful shot.

The eagles winter along the Minnesota River by Minneapolis and last year there were about five pair by the open water from the power plant. I was in Minneapolis yesterday and drove by the river, but only found one pair and they were in the top of a very large tree.

A local resident drove by when I was taking photos and told me that usually there are far more birds there, but they were missing the day I was there. It is about 100 miles over there, so I can't just drop by when ever I feel like it, but possibly next time.

There are supposed to be some around here, too. But, I never see them. Hopefully you have better luck seeing the many next time you can get there.

Beautiful shot of some beautiful eagles.

Lived on the Minnesota river for a year (town called Belle Plaine just south on the 169??) and I remember wishing I had a better camera (had a point&shoot)asI saw quite a lot of them that winter.

Cheers

AL

it adds to my belief that birds know more about photography and photographers than we give them credit for, I am surprised they didnt take flight a split second before you pressed the shutter
i see they made sure they has their backs to you
you still have to be happy ypu managed to see and photograph wild eagles

Would love to have a shot this close.
Not that we have those around here, but predators are really not my cup of tea. Somehow I don't seem to see them.

Great work
