the other weekend i was sitting on a bencjh i Kings Park and a crow (Australian raven) cam and sat with me, so i dug out the 80-320 zoom to try to get in close
but it was to close to focus on the bird, so I added a 2x converter with no glass to the camera, ( I said it was patient ) and was able to focus a lot closer.
It was nice to take a number of photos and experiment photographing a black bird

the pale eye means it is a young bird

i could get this close

a slightly different view

there are a few more on my site if you want a look

Nice detail, it is hard to get good detial in a bird that is all one color, white or black.

Fantastic!

Did you nail it to the bench? Bribe it with a delicious mouse? Or what?

If not waiting hopefully for a handout, it may have been eyeing its reflection in the front element of your lens! Is that the reflection of your lens in its eye in the second picture? :-)
