From the press release:

Quote:
GOLDEN, CO. (February 23, 2009)…PENTAX Imaging Company has announced a reduction in the minimum advertised price (MAP) of the award winning PENTAX K20 digital SLR. Effective immediately, the MAP price of the PENTAX K20D body and two K20D lens kit configurations have been reduced by $200.00 USD. The new MAP pricing is as follows:

PENTAX K20D body only: $799.95

PENTAX K20D with DA 18-55mm II lens kit: $879.95

PENTAX K20D with DA 16-45mm lens kit: $1199.95

“With this price reduction, PENTAX now offers consumers the highest resolution on one of the most fully-featured DSLRs priced under 800 dollars,” said Bill Zani, vice president sales and marketing, PENTAX Imaging Company.

Along with the price reductions, PENTAX is extending the K20D FREE Three Year Warranty (one year standard, two years extended) on all K20Ds purchased by March 31, 2009.
Think Pentax has something planned for PMA?

Now just try to find inventory. Both K200 and K20 inventories at both B&H and Adorama very low at the moment - like sold out for certain kits.

Went by my local camera store at lunch. They have inventory but I don't think it's marked down much (thought I was looking at a body only for $9-something hundred, but it might have been body and kit lens, not sure). They had both the K20 and K200.

I just bought one from Beachcamera for 729, body only. They seem to have plenty of stock and they only charge sales tax in NJ.

Hi Jason,

That means I paid about $450 as an early adopter premium. I don't regret it in the least though -- I have found the K20 worth it --

At $800, it's just an outright steal. . . IMO, of course. :-)

With the rebates last Summer I got a competitive price on the K20D, Grip, and 2 DA* lenses. However, I am envious of the extended warranty that is now being offered on the K20D body as part of the promotion:yawn:

Yep that 3 year warranty really sucks for us that bought the camera last year.

Yeah, I got a very good package deal (and a rebate on top of that) on a K200D, two DA* f/2.8 lenses, FGZ360 flash and battery grip as part of the same program Pentax had on the K20D last summer. I'm eager to see/hear what Pentax might have for PMA. I want to know if I'm waiting for the K300 or K30... or if I'm going to jump on a close-out K20D body.

If Pentax has a new generation in the pipe line, here's what I hope it would have:

a) improved noise control

b) enhanced dynamic range

c) dedicated single button access to White Balance (currently accessible only through the Function (Fn)menu. BTW, in case you did not know, ISO can be adjusted by pressing the OK button and spinning the front control wheel.

d) on-demand composition grid lines in the view finder

The K20D is a great camera...for me the above would make it even better!
