Dawg, that second shot is excellent. All are technically solid, but the pose in 2 is perfect and the background really makes her stand out.

They are to me more red than purple and very easy to mix up with a male house finch.

Thank you Glenn. I was a little surprised when I blew these up as it was taken from a good distance and the bird is so small.

Nice series, if I saw those around here I wouldn't know that they are purple finchs just by seeing them. I'm in too much of an urban area to catch these kinds of birds with any regularity. We see Blue Jays, Robins, a Cardinal or two, Mourning Doves and a variety of small birds, but they don't tend to sit still for very long.

Very nice, Dawg. Guess I'll need to get out my birdfeeders if I ever expect to see any birds. With more snow again today (I'm home because we couldn't get the car out of the driveway this morning) they would probably appreciate some easily accessible food as opposed to digging in the addtiional foot of snow!

Sorry to hear about the extra snow Patty. We got over 4 inches the other day but it was gone in 8 hours. Going to be 75 or so this coming weekend.
