I've read that alligators are not very aggressive -- they supposedly will leave you alone as long as you don't get too close. Still, the few times Ive encountered them in the wild, I treat them the same way I treat rattlesnakes: more distance is better! I have no interest in learning how close is too close. I hope you used a very long lens. By the way, these are really fine shots.

Thanks mtnman, these were taken just before the sun went down so, the lighting was kinda poor but with a little PP they came out OK.
