Many years ago when my brother and I canoed down the Loxahatchee River, we encountered a large gator, and I got some good shots (Olympus OM-1 with Kodachrome 64, I think). Later in the trip we encountered a Florida state park ranger, and I mentioned that I'm from Vermont, and had never seen a gator before that day. He said "Gators have a bad reputation, but they're pretty much harmless. But up in your area, I'd be terrified of meeting up with a moose."

What could I say? In certain circumstances moose can be dangerous, but most of the time they're very docile. Gators, on the other hand, scare me half to death. GW, I couldn't have gotten your shot with a 500 mm lens.
Yeah, gators are kinda like rattle snakes... if you leave them alone they won't bother you none. Just don't step on one! :G

Really not funny bitten by your subject.

My subject is ok though

My wife told me to stay from my subject though with a long 200mm lens - hardly a conventional choice for portrait lens at all

Daniel
Well Daniel... I can understand your wife's concern...:!:
Given the choice of being bitten by a gator, a moose or your subject...
I think I'd have to go with the latter...
willingly!

GW

ps. do they make a 2mm lens? :G

GW - it's not Daniel's subject that would cause his demise if he got too close - it's the attack-wife he'd have to worry about! I'd stay well away from his subject (assuming it were an equally desirable male of the species), too!
