Well, I promised myself I would enter the contest this month.... and of course, I never made the time to go out and take any photos that would fit this category. Please forgive me if those who did not participate cast a vote, but I would have to say that jelpee's image captured this month's subject best.

Right now there's a tie - anyone else have a vote? I really don't want to break the tie - in fact, I've been having a tough time this month. My favorite picture for this month is probably not the one that best reflects the theme, and my second favorite reflects the theme to me, though in a more off-beat way than where the votes are. The two pictures that are tied are both outstanding shots and both really reflect the theme, but are very different. So I sure hope there are several others who will vote so I don't have to break the tie!

It looks like our board is back up, and the tie has been broken, thank you bb2.

I'll leave the voting open until I get to work tomorrow morning (6AM Pacific).

Some thoughts so far: I've learned some things with this topic. There are really basically 4 different types of contrast posted - contrast in context, color, tone and shape. I learned that context contrast is much harder than I had expected - I tried laptops in a library, the one I posted, another one with snow on individual flower and so on. None of them quite worked.

All of the other types of contrast posted worked much better. I kept coming back to Paul's picture, I like the colors and for some reason that shot speaks to me.

Jelpee's simple color contrast was textbook color contrast and I can see why so many people voted for it. It's very well done.

That leaves the tone contrast, and GW's picture is also very deserving. However, it's not my favorite picture in the group - Ira's shot is my favorite this month. He used the fact one looks first to lighter things first to identify his subject, and then nicely balanced it with the lighter door in the background.

If others vote tonight and end up re-tying the vote, I'll vote for one of the tied pictures to break it.

Very interesting - all of the pictures that now show are the ones that are hosted somewhere else. Those that were uploaded to the bulletin board don't show, definitely something to do with the update.

So we'll go with the results from before the update, and GW's windmill wins.

Congrats, GW!

Well... I'm kind of stunned, I really didn't expect to win! A big thank you to everybody that voted for my pic.
Now all I have to do is come up with a topic.

I'll come up with one tonight.
