Hi All,

Pentax has released Firmware version 1.03 for the K20. It claims increased SR accuracy, but after installing it, it seems like my camera locks AF a bit faster (tried it with the FA*300/4.5 + 1.7x AFA (f7.7 actual) indoors in low light -- but I'm probably imagining this. . .). I can't say anything about SR improvement yet tho . . .

Here's a link to the Firmware:

Thanks for posting this - I'll have to do something about it when I get home.

Decided that it would make a good lunch-time thing to do. SR is somewhat subjective and dependent - don't know if I'll be able to tell whether it's better or not (not that I thought it was so bad the way it was). I'm always interested in keeping my firmware up to date - with Pentax they've always made things better and its always so simple to do.

Thanks for notifying, I've already made the upgrade. It's late night here now, so testing will have to wait till tomorrow.

Thank you Scott. I did the update after work today. I'm so new to my K20D that I'm not sure that I notice any difference. I can't tell indoors with the FA 50mm 1.4. Next nice day I'll put a longer lens on outdoors. Thanks again.

Thanks for the posting, Scott. I kept meaning to check and see if there was any I should have updated.

I noticed that there was a v 1.01, (which I never did), but no v 1.02. Is that unusual?

I cut this from another forum:

"..........SR update only improves the info given to the SR system about focal length. So the SR system is "given a more accurate indication of the focal length". It does not even improve the algorithms that correct SR movement. So depending on your lens you may see no improvement or a slight improvement, from the SR system being given more accurate focal length info. For sure you will see no improvement with lens that you have to manually input the focal length. Thats why it says SR system accuracy not performance."

It's not all that unusual. I can only think of one update for the K100, but it seems to me that there were 3 for the K10.
