Yesterday I decided to try some close-ups of the bees and butterflies flitting around a clump of wildflowers at the edge of my yard. I started out with the Tamron 28-75, but had to switch to the Tamron 70-300 Di LD Macro lens because I didn't want to lie down in the small briers. I liked a couple of the butterfly shots I got.

I had two different types of bees on the small slowers, a smaller variety, and a large bumblebee

One of the reasons I decided to get closer was the relative lack of interesting avian visitors yesterday morning.. However, I did like this little Eastern Phoebe, perched on a fencepost behind my wife's iris, which is getting ready to bloom.

Paul, are those butterflies or moths?

I really like your Eastern Phoebe. Nice one.

Patty, I can't claim to tell the difference, although I did look up the question, and tentatively identified them as butterflies based on the antennae structure. I am more than ready to be corrected. I just thought they were pretty, lol.

Your butterfly pictures are really nice, as is the bird. I think they are butterflies, too.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who came up somewhat empty today as far as subjects - went to the beach and there was not much for surf and very few birds (only some sea gulls). Boring for picture-taking, but the clam chowder was good.
