These were taken during the last 10 days on and off . All with A*300mmF4 1/2000s or faster

I need some kind of warm up when shooting fast actions for the coming season. Shooting girls were good during wintry time though

I think these show far more skill than shooting runway models. Very nice shots. I have a general idea of where to find Herons nearby, but I don't have the time or patience to wait for them to appear in open sky. How much time did you spend to get the shots you have taken in this thread?

Wonderful shots! I'm not convinced herons are better looking than your fashion pictures, though. And the low light of the runway ramp is certainly challenging. But perhaps the herons are more rewarding?

Great stuff, Daniel. Sharp and excellent exposure with that bright sky.

Hey thanks for taking time to comment. I love the exercise even though I may not get the results that I want.

Thanks. Let me say a few years if you count the time I have tried to locate the flight path. What happens is that I saw them flying back and forth across a highway I travel every working day. That took me another couple of yr to find the ideal location where they are low in altitude and I can hide as well. After that I would be rewarded with the beautiful birds coming to me within 100 feet. My lens unlike that of Kjell is only 300mm and I need to be close to fill 1/3 of the frame

Thanks. Actually I shoot fashion mainly as portrait exercise (on the cheap as I do not pay for the models/MUA) One thing frustrating for shooting fashion ( my way) is that I am only aiming for portrait. And it is rare moment in fashion shows to get good pose as the models are not supposed to be expressive for their look. Some fashion shows deliberately deface their models to get focus on the dress instead. A couple of fashion shooters yelled at me for cutting off dress/skirts in my images. I retort that they should not cut their models' limb or head in the images as well. You can look at your Sears catelog and you will know what I mean
