Default May Beetle - found one

This is the second time in a week that I've seen one of them.

And then I have to go back, way way back at least 40years before I saw another one.

May beetles have been almost extinct since the middle of the 20th century through extensive use of pesticides.

And I'm happy that they are appearing again.
They are about 1" (2.5cm big)

I always wanted The Beatles to come back but alas some of them are extinct.
Great detailed shots

Thanks Rodney,

I also thought these wouldn't surface again, and finding this one in my tiny (6mx12m) garden was a real surprise. Just hope more and others return.

Ronny - beautiful sharp shots of a tough subject. You encouraged me to look more closely at the common things! Around here many folks call these guys "door knockers" - because they are attracted to lights at night, and keep "knocking" on the screen door!
