I didn't swear off the DSLR as there are some uses for it. I still prefer the Nikon P90 for most shots. See my 202 posts / 11,907 views posts/threads on that in the point and shoot area.

and the Sony H50 201 posts / 36,406 views.

You'll find all kinds of K10 shooters around here. However a number of them have recently upgraded to K20. I'm a former K10 shooter, now use K20 and K100 (still love that little 6 mp camera!). We all are more than willing to talk about them.

Let us know how you like it and post some first photos.

Cool... I almost got the K20D, but didn't want to spend the extra $300 to get one as I got my K10D brand new for only $400. I still like using my Nikon P90.

I had the Olympus E-510 & Pentax K110D before this. In fact I'm selling the K110D on craigslist right now.

The K10D just came via USPS and I'm charging the battery now.
BTW, how long does it take to charge that battery the first time?

Hey Jack,
I have both the K10 & K20 and like them both.
can't remember how long it takes for the battery to charge but, it'll take several hours. (I know, you want to use your new toy)When the red light goes out its done. I have 6 batteries and 4 chargers, (one I keep at work) so I just keep rotating them and keep a fresh one in each bag so I'm never caught short on juice.

Still got my k10d and use it together with my k20d, normally carry both of them with me on trips. The k20d with a tele, the k10d with a wide angle lens.
Only when I only take one camera with me it's the k20d.

Don't remember charging the battery, had a spare + uploader before I had my k10d.

Waiting to see how you like the k10d

Hi Jack,

Congrats on the new K10, and welcome to the Pentax DSLR forum!

My K10 is now being rotated with my new K100S as my second body for handheld birding shots. My primary body is a K20 as it just does everything well, IMO, and I've been spoiled by the images that I get from its sensor.

Do yourself a favor and take your time to learn the features of the camera -- there's a lot to learn to get the best out of it --

We'll be looking forward to seeing some pics. . .

Scott

Well, the battery only took a couple hours to charge. I set the time etc. Now reading the manual through with the camera in my lap. My Dad who was a pro and did photography for a living as well as his Dad, taught me well... to read the manual before using anything. So this could take a while...

Maybe I ought to keep the K101D and use it as a backup with the other lens I have.

Congrats on the new camera. I use the K10d exclusively and love it. You'll love it too I'm sure. Happy shooting.
