Default New Toy

Just picked up my K20D-now the learning curve begins-hopefully it isn't too much different than the K10D. Couldn't pass up the price-got it for the same price I paid for the K10D a year ago.

Congrats!
you'll find the two to be almost identical, only some slight menu changes.

If you liked the K10, you'll love the K20.

Congrats! It's not that big of a learning curve. There are some significant differences with jpg options and I found post processing the pictures to be different. I used the excuse of a new camera to read through the manual and pick up on things I had either forgotten, didn't completely understand or ignored in the K10 manual. It was a great learning experience, partly because the cameras are very similar.

Just took it out of the box-looks really similar to the K10d. Different sounding shutter-almost sounds like it isn't completing the cycle-but the pictures seemed to be fine. Pouring rain here-will take some test shots this weekend.

Checked the firmware-it is the original-looked at the Pentax website-doesn't appear to be any great improvement. Any suggestions?

I have kept mine updated. My perception is that the last one did help the SR a bit (seem to be having less trouble with camera shake), but have no way of telling if it's just that I went through a stretch where I had developed some bad habits. I haven't found any down-side with upgrading.

Congrats with you new cam.

Depends what firmware you have on the camera. I found it worthwhile to update 1.0 to 1.01 because that fixed a bug. Didn't think that the 1.03 update to get a better discovery of focal lengths for SR was urgent enough to do. But if I had the 1.0 I would get the 1.03 (just my 5c)

Thanks-started playing with it today-file sizes are incredible-looks like the next purchase is an external hard drive.
