6.3 to 1??! Now THAT's close. What's the DOF like - it's got to be really tiny. I can't manage that close, I haven't yet shot a ruler so don't know what I get when I use the 105mm lens with a reversed 50mm lens in front of it. I know its more than 1:1 but not sure how much more.

My MacBook Pro/CS4 didn't have trouble with 4 full sized jpg files (what I had used for the worm, shot raw+ because I was concerned about file size). It seems to me that the one other time I tried it, I had more than 4 but don't really remember now. I'll have to play with it some more. It isn't exactly instantaneous - it takes a while.

Harriet the 6.3 to 1 isn't usable, even with the lens wide open the light that reaches the sensor is so less that you just don't see anything in the viewer.
Also the subject is so close that it doesn't get lighted. Only could view the result because the ruler I used was transparent.

Creating the combined images isn't fast on my windows vista either.

That is "macro to the max!" Awesome to be able to see the individual pollen grains! You've inspired me to look for my old (pentax screw-mount) bellows and try them out!
