Patty, Rodney will have to tell you what the common name is, but these are neat little Australian ground dwelling plumed pigeons in the genus Lophophaps (an older name - try pronouncing that one) or now Geophaps. The only reason I know that is that they do well in captivity and can be seen in zoos in this country - almost any zoo with a large aviary is likely to have them.

Thank You All . They are called Crested Pigeons aka Top Knots and the scientific name is Ocyphaps lophotes.

We will have to wait till Spring, I think, for the babies, down here we are one week out from Winter.
