Congrats, Roy! But whatever you do, don't get rid of the DS! To me the K20 is a very capable tool, but the DS is a love affair!

Make sure you have a copy of the K-7's retail price so you can show her the alternative body you could have purchased. That might calm her down a bit

Congrats Robar, I'm sure you're going to like it.
Maybe you've seen this article from Ken Rockwell already if not it's recommended reading
Why Your Wife Wants You to Buy that New Camera

(ps: Ken Rockwell is biased as can be, but sometimes he's quite to the point)

Hi GW

Been having a bit of an apathy attack lately with regard to photography.

My K20 is 9 months old and only got about 3500 shots on it - pathetic really.

I find I go through this from time to time though.

I still read the posts, but don't really comment much, as I am out of the zone.

I recently bought a film camera to slow things down a bit and stop the machine gun approach - might work for me....

It is a Zenit EM 8 delivered from our fav site. (My first SLR was a Zenit E about 30 years ago...)

I'm glad that both of you are back some more. Roy - that K20 should make things interesting for a while, when is yours due in? Have fun trying to digest the owners manual - it hasn't gotten any easier from the DS (they used much the same words for features that hadn't changed, to give you an idea). The menus are familiar, but different, too.

You have my sympathies Roy, and I am glad you are determined to overcome it.

I can't imagine how bad this is for you.

Does this mean you will be doing more tripod work?

You were such an inspiration to me when I first joined this group, and I look forward to your new posts when the K20D arrives.

I've never had thoughts of that..

tripod??
i really don't like using one, so the SR in the k20 will be fun to explore..

of course, I'm dead anyway(i'm s!!! deep in it now) when it gets here.. price was definitely right..

I just did the same thing-haven't had much time to play with the K20d yet-but I still love my DS-as far as I can tell the menu's are a different but not insumountable. Congrats on the new camera.

Roy, you may not realize it, but you influenced a number of people here, me included. So I'm happy that you'll be trying the K20, hopefully it will help you deal with things. As far as tripods, I was very anti-tripod for a very long time. Now that I have a light-weight one that's easy to set up and the ball head won't slip, I'm using it more and finding that it's broadening my horizon as a photographer. I'd never say that you have to use one, but it does help make some things much easier.

And how many times have you thrown around the $1299 for the K-7, or the fact that many spent that much on a camera you just bought for half that much? And there's always a dozen roses...
