Default Dragon, Damsel, Fly

Now that the BUSY summer vacation season is upon us, I will not be able to drop by quite so often. Have sure gotten some excellent advice here, and appreciate all the help. Will try to stop by at least once a week or so if possible, but have to take care of the park visitors first!

Here are a few assorted shots from right nearby. As always, suggestions, advice, criticism and even compliments all gratefully accepted.

First is a rather rare Dragonfly, only found in the Southern Appalachians, and only near shady, silty creeks. It's called the Cherokee Clubtail:

One of our commonest Damselflies is called the Ebony Jewelwing. I believe this is the female of the species:

Our roadside plants are crazy with bloom on these warm, wet days. Here's two daisy shots - with and without fly:

Lots of other bright, near-summer blooms in the fields and wet meadows:

And one more "creepy crawly," just for fun:

Very nice shots Mole!
I can hardly wait to get my camera back from the shop so I can get out and start taking advantage of this time of the year.

Mole,

These pictures are all wonderful. The Cherokee Clubtail is one beautiful Dragonfly. The Ebony Jewlwing is no slouch either. All you pictures are beautifully composed and sharp.

The diversity of natural subjects that you bring to this fourm are remarkable. You have what must be a most gratifying job and a beautiful enviroment in witch to do it.

All good shots, but I really like the spider in the last one

GW, Lou & Dal - Thanks for all the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed these. I do have a lot of fun chasing bugs & flowers around!

Yes Lou, I do enjoy my work, and the amazing, complex and subtle natural places here. Thanks for the encouragement!

Dal - the spider is actually another arachnid called by various names - GrandDaddy (or Daddy) long legs, or Harvestman. Close kin to spiders, but does not produce silk, and has eyes mounted on top of its body. Mostly a scavenger on dead insects and such.

Well Done, Mole!

Very nice macros! What lens are you using? It certainly is doing a great job.
