Default Immovable Woodpecker

Last Thursdy at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, Boynton Beach, Florida, I encountered Pileated Woodpeckers again. I saw one fly under palm branches and followed it for the one quick shot I hoped to get. I had to use flash, it was dark under the palms and the light that was there was coming from behind. This bird kept about it's business looking for food as I took shot after shot. One of those encounters that leaves you scratching your head.

Hi Ed,

Your Pileated WP shots are amazing! Were these with a bare flash, or do you use a Better Beamer?

That's one wild looking bird and you captured so well, it's as if we were there.

I use a better beamer with my long lenses. This was AF 540FGZ with Beamer.
