Penolta,

I also thought it strange that the bird would reject the fish. I was watching and photographing for some time and he was seemingly not having to work hard to get fish. A more likely scenario may be that he did not have a full grip on the fish and it wiggled loose. These were the same fish he was eating for some time. I was to absorbed taking the pictures to notice what actually happened.

Nice work Lou,
the Snowy is one of my favorites but, also one of the hardest to shoot in bright sunlight!

Lou - great series and great detail on a very difficult subject - difficult both due to the color and the rate of activity!

GW - Thanks. Lighting was difficult as it was mid-afternoon when the pictures were taken. Blown highlights are hard to control when some of the bird is in shadow and some is in bright sun. I think I may have had my camera set on spot metering and perhaps if set on center weighted the results may have been better.

mole - I was hoping that he would fly away so I could get some wing action shots. I think he had too good a thing going with all the fish in the area. Thanks for commenting.

Lou
