Simple, you need a HCSD (high capacity SD) card reader for cards over 2GB!

It's the other way around SDHC versus HCSD (SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity).

Many card readers are not SDHC compatible. So, make sure any card reader you buy specifically supports SDHC (SD 2.0) if you want to use higher capacity cards. See this page for more info:

I've noticed that a number of Transcend SDHC cards are available with a reader for a few bucks more than the same cards without a reader. Here are some examples:

Transcend 4GB Class 6 SDHC card with card reader

Transcend 8GB Class 6 SDHC card with card reader

Transcend 16GB Class 6 SDHC card with card reader

Transcend 32GB Class 6 SDHC card with card reader

No. A reader must specifically support SDHC (a.k.a., the SD 2.0 specification) to work with SDHC cards.

Most older SD card reader designs are not SDHC compatible.

Don't feel too frustrated Roy, I had the same problem a while back with my old computer that had the SD reader built in to the front panel. It would read the 1&2 gig cards just fine but not the SDHC. so I just use the card reader I got with the first 4 gig SDHC that just plugs into a USB port. the other option is to leave the card in the camera and use the PC cord that came with it to connect to the computer.
