Default Instant jpeg from raw

Except for having to open another program if I've been in WE. I like the Pentax Browser as I can quickly see the photo data.

The program is on my computer. After I download the RAW files and select all, go to files (the instant program is there), you can select to extract the embeded jpeg in native size or smaller. After you select the program creates a new folder with all jpegs in it (300 take less than 30 secons on my old slow computer). I usually transfer the jpegs from this folder to the folder with the raw files, they line up side by side. I then delete the folder created for the jpegs. You can do what ever works best for your filing system. For me I now do not need to see the raw file thumnail as the jpeg is next to it.

A little registry edit to allow DNG thumnails to be shown in Explorer

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/p...indows-xp.html

Courtesy of Ivan Glisin
Open Notepad;
Paste the following lines to editor window:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dng\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{3F30C968-480A-4C6C-862D-EFC0897BB84B}"

Save file as "dng_thumbnails.reg";
Double click on "dng_thumbnails.reg";
Confirm that you want to add content to the Windows registry.

I have installed both of the original suggestions by Ed and Roy and they work great. I did read through the thread you posted Dal and noted that the last comment of the thread mentioned someone with WinXP having problems with it and uninstalling it. So, not saying it won't work. It might just have been the older versions of his programs he was using.

Just wanted to say the other two options have been working great for me with Win XP Pro in case anyone was interested.

Hi Patty

I have just installed the reg edit on my netbook running XP and it works fine

For me it just means no more extra programs to install....
