All very nicely done Roy. I do like the Viv 105 macro myself. I plan on getting a 90mm Viv and the adapter to see the difference.

these were shot at 1:2 so i could use the onboard flash..
i know most of you know this but cropping with the 14meg sensor is unbelievable

Nicely done, Roy. And yes, I often hate to resize full frame pictures down to post here, some of them, especially taken by the Viv, just cry out to be cropped so all that incredible detail shows through. The resolution, especially with good lenses, is so nice!

cool bugs! Speaking of cropping I have a question. Why is it that cropping to create an image is sometimes seen by photogs as being taboo, especialy when the image is a macro or telephoto? I find that some of my most creative moments come after the capture. It seems to me that as resolution increases so does the artistic opportunities. Such as reshaping a decent capture into a really neat picture. I do understand about the mechanics of the digital image concerning image file size and and print size. I am merely thinking from a creative and artistic standpoint. Actually I believe that creative cropping is an art in itself. Anyway just my thoughts. bock1965

bock,
i find that creative cropping is just fine...
no difference from PP the image..
an artistic crop is just what it is..
any setup/lens can only do so much.. after that, it's up to you and your eye to enhance the image... there's nothing wrong with it.. all the great photogs do it..

the 90 is a cult lens and quite good but i doubt it will do better than the 105..
i'm not collecting and don't keep much of anything that's redundant
