What's Tearing Up the Road?

At lunch I came across a scary sight - here was something literally tearing up the road!

It was so bad, they had to block off the street:

There was another car involved:

With a strange looking license plate:

That sure got lots of people looking:

Wait a minute, there's something wrong with this scene, isn't there?

It isn't exactly real, it's Hollywood. As in, the Transformers:

The new Transformers movie primiered this evening at a theater near where I work. The un-transformed vehicles weren't half as much fun as the 15 or 20 foot high Transformer they had at the first premiere a couple of years ago. But it was still a good opportunity to try a bit of street shooting, something I haven't done in a while.

Your first shot gave it away for me before getting to the end. Of course, knowing where you are helped. All of my sons are into Transformers. Even now as adults.

Nice images.

I'm another one who loves the new retro Camaro - but then, I had loved them when they were out the first time. My other half doesn't quite have the same taste in vehicles, though. He saw my last shot and said that he'd sure love to have that for a commuter vehicle!

Unfortunately, the Camaro was parked in a bad spot for noon-time photography - the back end was in the shadow of a tree, so there was no way to easily get the whole car properly exposed, and access was severly limited, so I couldn't get a good angle, either. So I took detail shots of it.

One of the things that was interesting was to see just how much red light was reflected off of the red carpet. I took more of a close-up of the guy painting the styrofoam "pavement" chunks and his face came out looking awful, unnaturally red, when the rest of the picture's color was fine.

You're qualified to be a member of the production team of Transformers thanks to your ability of devising such a drawing story : ) Very crisp and nicely saturated pictures indeed. Great for the lunch break!

Thanks, bahadir. The pictures are pretty much straight out of the camera, shot raw, converted with whatever LR felt like doing to them by default. All I did was crop a bit here and there, either the first or the next to last one had a bit of fill light added as the dynamic range was a bit beyond the scope of the sensor. I think I may have used a little levels adjustment on one or two, as the metering was underexposing a bit. Resized and added a bit of sharpening to compensate. The colors were very bright. I actually used 3 different lenses - the last picture was taken with the DA12-24, the crowd with the A*300 and the rest with the DA*50-135.

They had another premiere today, but they didn't have anything interesting on the red carpet. The crowd was more fun, but I didn't take anything exceptional. I really need to get help for general street scenes, I'm not very good at spotting things.

Great pictures, ...
they don't do this type of promotions where I live.

Thanks for posting
