Default Butterly Place in MA (5 imgs)

Seeing the images from the butterfly place in Newport reminded me of the ones I'd taken back in 2007 when we were looking for a place for my son and his fiance's wedding. We had visited the Butterfly Place in MA. It was quickly decided that the place was too humid to have a wedding and I'd forgotten about the photos I'd taken that day.

Here are the ones that came out. There were hundreds of butterflies in the place. I have no idea what types of butterflies or the bird was. Just thought they were pretty.

That is a great series, Patty-

It looks like the K-20 is doing well.

Nice ones, Patty - the "old" K100 does pretty well, doesn't it? From the humidity you describe, I would guess it was a tropical assemblage - many of these displays keep exotic, showy species from all over the world. The only butterfly I recognize is the native Pipevine Swallowtail (#3), and the bird is a little Button Quail, an Old World species commonly kept and raised in captivity.

Beautiful sharp pictures! I like #3 the best. Was this the butterfly house in Westford, MA?

Thanks, everyone. Yes, Lou, it is in Westford. I'd meant to mention that for you when I first posted. It was a small place, but they had quite an assortment of butterflies in various stages.

Thanks for the id on the quail, penolta. I thought it looked like some sort of quail as my grandfather used to raise them in southern California. This was one of the adults. There were about half dozen babies running around. But, they were so quick, I couldn't get them.
