Default Avon descent

Today is the start of this years Avon descent, a 134km white water race for both power boats and paddlers, it should finish mid-afternoon tomorrow.
It is usually well attended at the highlight areas, like Bells rapids, so I went down to Bells a week earlier and got photos of those that chose to practise (and saved myself $10 too). I shot mainly with the new Pentax f4 300mm lens i bought
here are a few photos

i have some more on my site http://www.johndolphin.net/photos/ca....php?cat_id=50 plus some from other years too with other lenses
i think i would rather take photos than participate lol

I think white water kayaking would be great fun if it wasn't so much work. And I'm like you - I'd rather take photos. Which 300mm f4 lens did you get? It looks quite sharp, especially the last picture.

Terrific action shots, very sharp, wonderful colours and very, very wet.
