Default Snail Kite Chicks

The chicks have been active since the banding and transmitter were added. This chick spent some time between picking at the band and the transmitter. The lighting was awful and I made the mistake of shooting the Sigma 150 500mm wide open, so with the heavy crop required these are all on the soft side. Next time I will shoot ISO 1600 and stop the lens down a stop.

Hi Ed,

Very nice series!!!!

It's very cool to follow the same birds and record their reactions to new things in their environment. I rarely get this opportunity, and then it's only by accident. . .

Great photos despite the equipment limitations! Thanks for keeping us informed.
