Default Snow and Skiing in Australia

Hi all, A few sports oriented shots I took on Saturday. Weather was good and the snow was fresh.

I loved the day so much I am heading back again this weekend.

Most shot with the Sigma 17-70mm. Others with Sigma 10-20mm and Pentax SMC FA* 80-200mm f/2.8.

Thanks for the shots. I live in a ski town in northern California and as soon as the season ends, around April, I wait for it to start again. With enough travel money, I guess a person could actually ski year round.

Sarah Joyce...the kudos belong to Peacekeeper, not to me. . .

Very nice indeed!
Looks quite inviting compared to the 95* weather were having here.

Nice series. Great colors. Looks like you were using a polarizer. I might suggest taking some shots without it. It does a great job on the sky and adding contrast but that contrast also throws a lot of shadow on the humans so you lose details there. It's not as much of an issue on shots like #3 where your subject is rather small in the frame. But it becomes more of an issue on the closer shots 1 & 6 where your subject fills up more of the frame. The shadows hide a lot of detail that will make your subject pop more. Anyway, give it a try on your next trip.

Great job and thanks for sharing!

More nice snow shots! I'm another who is envious of your current winter snow season. Sure looks like snowboarding is big down there - maybe some day I'll manage to travel to your pretty part of the world.

Are you back in Australia for good or will you be visiting some other interesting spot any time soon?

Thanks for the comments guys. I must have taken 500 shots that day and apart from a few where "I" messed up the focus and a more than a few where "I" couldn't keep them in frame, the rest where great.

Mtngal, yep.. I am back now for the next few year. Work is diverse and interesting with intermittent domestic travel now.

JohnG, I know what you mean.
